Same-Sex Marriage in Latin America
Opportunity Description:
The quest for same-sex marriage recognition in Latin America has been varied, in process, timeline, rhetoric, and outcome. The project has, thus far, covered everything until 2015 or so, but interesting developments have happened in the past decade. I'm looking for an intrepid student to parse through the news, legislative debates, judicial opinions, and executive actions.
Primary Responsibilities:
The quest for same-sex marriage recognition in Latin America has been varied, in process, timeline, rhetoric, and outcome. The project has, thus far, covered everything until 2015 or so, but interesting developments have happened in the past decade. I'm looking for an intrepid student to parse through the news, legislative debates, judicial opinions, and executive actions. They will be responsible for collating primary sources and, if time and interest allow, deploying one or more qualitative coding strategies.
Minimum Qualifications and/or Eligibility Requirements:
Compile primary source data (news, speeches, legislation, etc.)
Qualitative coding (optional)
Proficiency in Spanish for reading is required.
Additional proficiency is Portuguese for reading is preferred but not required.
Ability to read, summary, and organize pieces of information.

Knowledge or skills gained from the experience:
Data resource management
Experience with one or more qualitative coding techniques
